Messi

Lionel Messi returns with a bang, as he registered a goal and an assist after being on the sidelines for a couple of weeks. La Pulga guided the Herons to a convincing victory over MLS heavyweights LA Galaxy. The victory puts Inter Miami seven points off Cincinnati, with three games in hand. Messi’s return does not only come as a boost but as a major relief for Mascherano’s side, as they take on Mexican giants Tigres tomorrow.

Inter Miami had struggled to break down a resolute LA Galaxy defense for 25 minutes. That was until Messi showed up with his brilliance to put the Herons ahead on the 84th minute, thanks to a brilliant strike from the Argentine. Five minutes later, he then went on to provide a brilliant backheel assist to Suarez, further highlighting his chemistry with the Uruguayan and his football intelligence. Inter Miami will now be hoping for more Messi magic as they take on Tigres in the quarterfinals of the Leagues Cup. Messi also currently sits at the top of the goalscoring charts, with his brilliant solo strike overtaking Sam Surridge of Nashville SC.
