Morocco will be seeking their first title since 1976 when they defeated Guinea. The hosts arguably have the best squad on paper, but have also proven quality on the pitch making them a side any team would dread facing. The Atlas Lions will also be heavily boosted by the return of Achraf Hakimi, who made it to the squad list after being sidelined for months. Brahim Diaz’s inclusion in the side also strengthens the hosts, with the Spanish-born attacking midfielder making his first international appearance for Morocco since switching. Diaz managed to find the net in the first opening three games for the hosts, putting in a solid display and showing glimpses of his brilliance.
Super Eagles looking to bounce back after a disappointing 18 months
The Super Eagles, led by Osimhen, will be keen to get their hands on AFCON once again, ending their 12-year drought since they last won the trophy. Senegal must never be left out of the conversation when looking who could conquer Africa
Last but certainly not least, one cannot have a conversation about AFCON contenders without talking about Senegal. The Lions of Teranga will be looking to bounce back after an early exit to Ivory Coast on penalties. A Senegalese side led by Sadio Mane will be keen on becoming champions of Africa for the first time. The 2021 AFCON champions secured a comfortable 3-0 over Botswana to kickstart their quest for their second title. The Lions of Teranga will also be heavily boosted by the form of Ilmian Ndiaye, who has recently emerged onto the world stage as one of Africa’s most promising attackers.
