Sepp Blatter urges fans to boycott the U.S World Cup

Blatter warns fabs over U.S safety concerns

Blatter dice que no ha dimitido sino que ha puesto su "cargo en manos del Congreso"

Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter has issued a warning to football fans over attending this upcoming World Cup in North America this summer. This warning came following US President Donald Trump’s crackdown on immigration, with the Swiss veteran stating that US officials would be stricter than ever. There are currently several countries participating in this upcoming World Cup that have received international bans, with some of the most notable names being Senegal, Haiti, and Ivory Coast. This ban obviously exempts players and staff; however, fans who had previously purchased a FIFA World Cup ticket will be granted a FIFA Pass through the U.S. government. Stay tuned as we explore more about the details behind this story in our discussion.

Prior to Sepp Blatter publicly coming out and urging fans to reconsider their travel plans, there have been several reports prior to this stating that fans were thinking of boycotting this World Cup. Anti-corruption expert Mark Pieth stated that “the country is in tremendous turmoil itself,” suggesting that the political state in the U.S. was not ideal. Another huge factor behind fans’ decision to boycott the World Cup is the astronomical prices, which spectators around the world had previously expressed concern about. Not to mention, if a former FIFA president can warn fans about attending this World Cup, it may just leave those who have already decided to attend with a lot to think about.

2026 WC expected to break attendance records

Regardless of political factors and high ticket prices, this 2026 World Cup is still expected to be the highest attended edition in history. With more teams added in the mix, expanded number of matches, and a high demand for tickets, we can still expect fans to show up in large numbers despite all of the limiting factors.
