Italy looking to get over the line and into the World Cup

Italy take on Northern Ireland in the bid to qualify for their first World Cup in 8 years. The four time world champions have been heavily criticized for their recent failures in international football and despite their immense talent they have failed to enjoy much success. Meanwhile Poland will be eager to qualify for their fourth consecutive World Cup with Lewandowski potentially bidding farewell to the international stage. Turkey on the other hand will feel obligated to qualify given the fact that they have not reached a tournament in 20 years.
Italian football has come under serious scrutiny lately and an absence from the World Cup could put their reputation in serious jeopardy. The Italian Catenaccio that was once so feared amongst football teams seems to have lost its fear factor. With Italy’s world cup place still up in the air the Azzurri do not appear to be the feared team they once were back in the early 2000s.
Poland hoping to edge past Sweden

Poland look set to take on Sweden in a tough playoff battle for a place at the World Cup. With this potentially Lewandowski’s last dance the Polish striker will be eager to fire his team to the World Cup. Though Poland are the underdogs they will look to shock Sweden. Sweden on the other hand will feel compelled to qualify after only reaching three out of the last six World Cups.

Turkey are arguably favored to claim the 3rd European playoff spot for the World Cup. With Turkey boasting a blend of technical ability, youth and dynamism this is a side that could certainly write their names as dark horses of the tournament. With Guler’s meticulous passing ability which boasts a 91% completion rate, the Real Madrid youngster will be looking to dictate play in Turkey’s midfield. Not to mention Kenan Yildiz who has broken on to the world stage ranks high for most successful dribbles completed in Europe’s top five leagues.
