Bayern take advantage of Madrid’s errors
Bayern Munich will be taking an advantage back to Munich for the second leg after they edged out Real Madrid 2-1 in a cagey encounter. This game was far from one sided with both sides having multiple chances to score more goals. Real Madrid will still feel like they could pick up a result at the Allianz Arena however given they go into this tie with a 1 goal deficit they will certainly have their work cut out for them. Meanwhile Arsenal managed to score a late goal through Havertz in a difficult matchup against Sporting. With a 1-0 goal advantage heading to the Emirates Arsenal will feel like they already have one foot in the semi finals.
Mbappe offers Madrid a lifeline
Perhaps the tie that all of football was tuning into was Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich which as always failed to let us down. From the very first kick off the football you knew that this was going to be nothing short of a tasty encounter. From Harry Kane magnificent strike to Neuer heroics in goal there was not much more you could ask for from this game. Kylian Mbappe offered Real Madrid a lifeline when his strike at the near post slightly crept over the line to reduce the deficit. Bayern on the other hand would have felt they could have had more. The Germans managed to capitalize on Los Blancos’ mistakes well and a side of Bayern’s quality will always punish any opponent.
Arsenal survive Sporting scare
Arsenal would definitely have liked to score more but they will feel more relieved than anything that they managed to get over the line. Having thrown away the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, Arsenal will want to give it their all during these next 7 weeks with the hopes of picking up the remaining trophies.
