MLS All-Star history

MLS All-Stars in action against Liga-MX All Stars

The competition has been in motion since 1996 meaning this will be the 26th year anniversary. The only other time when MLS All-Stars played a Mexican side was when they faced Guadalajara in 2003. MLS All Stars edged Guadalajara 3-1 and goals from Razov, Ruiz and Beasley secured the victory. This is going to be the second consecutive year that the two sides face off against each other. Last year MLS All-Stars had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Liga MX All Stars in 2021. Jonathan Rodriguez of Club America gave them the lead inside 20 minutes only for Jesus Murillo to equalize 13 minutes after the second half began. MLS All Stars edged Liga MX All Stars 3-2 on penalties thanks to goals from Kreilach, Salloi and Pepi.

Some players from the fixture last year in the squad again

Diego Rossi of LAFC made the MLS All Stars squad twice out of the last three years as did Carlos Vela of LAFC. Kai Wagner of Philadelphia Union made the squad for the second year running as he was named in last year’s squad as well as this one. Whereas Walker Zimmerman made the MLS All-Stars squad for the third time in a row. This is a remarkable achievement as many players come in and out of the MLS All-Stars team. For Liga MX All-Stars Angel Mena and William Tesillo both who represent Leon have made the roster for the second time in a row.

Key players to make their mark on this fixture

There will be a number of players in the MLS All-Stars squad getting their big break by making the squad. Some of these individuals are Javier Hernandez, Jesus Ferreira, Valentin Castellano and Sebastian Driussi. Whereas Rogelio Funes Mori, Andre Pierre Gignac and Julio Furch are some of the names that will be representing Liga MX All-Stars.

Prediction

Based on the fact that lately American soccer has been edging Mexican soccer as the USA beat Mexico in two finals. USA edged Mexico 3-2 in the Concacaf Nations League and 1-0 in Gold Cup. MLS All-Stars edged Guadalajara 3-1 in 2003, they also beat Liga MX to secure the title last year. MLS All Stars have many players that can do damage such as Chicharito, Castellanos, Ferreira, Gil, Driussi and many others. Although Liga-MX have good players such as Gignac and Funes Mori the Mexican side will be no match for the MLS All-Star side.
