Los Angeles FC vs Philadelphia Union

Two teams that have never won the MLS Cup Final hoping to do so for the first time

Los Angeles FC takes on Philadelphia Union on November 5th at Banc of California Stadium.  This game features the top team from the western conference vs eastern conference. This will be the first ever final for both teams. However in 2019 Los Angeles FC made it to the western conference final against Seattle Sounders where they lost 3-1. They will be looking to put that behind them when they take on the Philadelphia giants. Philadelphia Union beat FC Cincinnati in the eastern conference semi finals and beat defending champions New York City FC 3-1. Whereas Los Angeles FC beat arch rivals LA Galaxy 3-2 with Arango netting the winner. Then they cruised to a comfortable victory against Austin FC.

Los Angeles go in as favorites

Los Angeles FC go into this game winning 21, drawing four and losing nine.  It is a massive improvement considering they came in 9th last season winning 13, drawing 12 and losing 9. This is their highest ranking since 2019 where they came in 1st place. Cristian Arango scored 16 goals for Los Angeles FC and will be hoping to lead the California giants to the final on Saturday. Los Angeles FC have a host of other players at their disposal such as Vela, Chiellini, Bale, Bouanga, Tello and many others. Los Angeles FC will be fired up and will do anything to win their first ever MLS Cup. They also scored 66 goals and conceded 38 in 34. Their defense may not be the best but their attack makes up for it.

Philadelphia Union are the dark horse of this final

This is a contest Philadelphia Union goes into as undoubtedly underdogs. The fact that they are underdogs will make them more eager to prove a point to fans who don’t believe in them. Philadelphia Union did make to the CONCACAF Champions League in 2020. They won 19, drew 10 and lost five games. A few things that they have over LAFC is the fact that they have more goals than the California outfit and suffered less defeats. Philadelphia Union’s defensive record is also better as their final opponents conceded 12 more goals than them. Philadelphia Union’s most recent final is the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. They have not played an MLS Cup Final and it is even more exciting considering the fact that both teams have never played a final before.
