Not much competition in this group with Argentina and Mexico expected to ease past

Group C full of attacking talent

Group C of the World Cup brings you Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Poland and Mexico. Argentina faces of against Saudi Arabia in the opening match of the World Cup Group C. Lots of exciting players such as Messi, Lewandowski, Lozano, Di Maria and many other face off in this group. Argentina is in 3rd place in FIFA Rankings, Mexico is 13th, Poland is 26th and Saudi Arabia is 50th. This Group is set to bring many exciting games and it will be action packed full of many goals.

The Saudi Arabians making their second consecutive appearance

Saudi Arabia enter their second consecutive World Cup. This is their third ever World Cup as well. The furthest they have ever reached is the Round of 16 in 1994. Saudi Arabia topped their qualifying group to reach the World Cup yet again. They won 7, drew 2 and lost 1 whilst scoring 12 and conceding 6. Al Sheri, Al Buraikan, Al Dawsari and Al Najei racked up the goals in the qualifying stage scoring 11 between the four of them. They will be hoping to get on the scoresheet and possibly even get some points out of the group stage.  Saudi Arabia have a game against Croatia six days before the World Cup which means they do not get as much rest as their other Group C opponents.

El Tri hoping to edge Poland and qualify for the Last 16

Mexico has competed in all but three World Cups. They missed 1934 in Italy, 1974 in West Germany and 1982 in Spain. Ever since then they have made an appearance in every World Cup. Mexico came in 2nd in the CONCACAF qualifying round  tying points with Canada and even edging the USA by three points. They won 8 drew 4 and lost 2 whilst scoring 17 and conceding 8. Mexico in a nation capable of upsetting the big teams. Last World Cup El Tri beat Germany 1-0 and in 2014 they nearly beat Holland. They will be exciting to watch in Group B and will be battling out with Argentina and Poland as their main competitors. They lost 2-0 to Brazil last World Cup. This time they will be hoping to repeat their success of 1970 and 1986.

Lewandowski hoping to get his first WC goal

Poland reaching their second consecutive World Cup is a massive achievement for them. Poland came last in their group last World Cup. They will be looking to improve on that and make it to the knockout stages. Poland has goal machine Robert Lewandowski and any team with Lewandowski just has an extra boost. Lewandowski won the Gerd Muller Award for top striker and will be hoping to make a name for himself at the World Cup. Poland beat Sweden 2-0 to progress to the World Cup thanks to Lewandowski and Zielinski goals. Poland have a list of good players in Lewandowski, Zielinski, Piatek, Krychowiak and many others.

Messi’s last chance at glory

This is arguably Messi’s last chance to ever win the World Cup as he said after the World Cup he will retire from international football. Argentina has disappointed in the World Cup on multiple occasions. Argentina came 2nd to Brazil in the qualifying rounds also being unbeaten. The final of the World Cup against Germany still hurts and they will be hoping to turn that around. They are backed many as the favorites of the World Cup. However one thing that is not in their favor is injuries. Di Maria and Dybala are in a race to be fit for Ablecieste. Messi won his first ever trophy after beating Brazil to lift the Copa America. They have won 35 consecutive matches and will be hoping to add to that in the Group stage. Argentina definitely go into qatar as favorites given their recent form.
