Messi ready for new challenge in MLS

Messi to play outside Europe for the first time

Messi is set to be presented as an Inter Miami player as he has touched down in Miami for his big transfer. The Argentine will play outside of Europe for the first time since 2004 when he made his debut for FC Barcelona. Inter Miami are targeting their Leagues Cup clash with Cruz Azul as the match where he makes his debut. He is also going to be joined by former Barcelona players Alba and Busquets ahead of the new move.

Messi looking for new challenge

The Argentine player’s contract with PSG expired on June 30th and he declined the option to extend his deal with Les Parisiens. Messi was blamed for PSG’s previous failures with Les Parisiens this past season. He was constantly met with boo’s from the PSG supporters as they blamed the Argentine for their exit against Bayern Munich. Despite being treated poorly by the PSG supporters Messi still managed to record 21 goals and 16 assists in all competitions for PSG. As Messi continues to age he wanted to play in an environment where there is not as much pressure to win or get results. After securing the biggest prize in sports history he feels that he has nothing left to achieve in football. Which would lead him to wanting to play in a more relaxed environment.

Leo hoping to turn Inter Miami’s fortunes around

Despite there being less pressure Messi will still have a huge task on his hands which is to get Inter Miami into play-offs. Messi will have 12 games to turn around Inter Miami’s fortunes as they only have 5 wins in 21 games. Inter Miami are 18 points from the play-offs position meaning that Messi won’t have it all easy despite being in Miami. New Coach Tata Martino even claimed that “Messi and Busquets are not here on vacation.” La Pulga even claimed himself that the very best version of him is arriving at Inter Miami which gives them lots of hope
