Nigeria and Canada draw stalemate

Canada end their game scoreless

The Canada and Nigeria game ended scoreless as both teams shared the spoils in their World Cup opener. Both teams had chances which could have turned the match into their favor but the defenses were on point. Both teams would have wanted a win but it was not for either side. Nnadozie denies Canada

Nigeria’s keeper Nnadozie stole the show as she saved a penalty from Christine Sinclair at the start of the second half.  Thanks to that save Nnadozie was able to deny Canada all the three points in their World Cup opener. Nigeria will be happy to have come away with a point after Canada missed a penalty. Nigeria qualified for the World Cup by reaching the semi finals of the African Cup of Nations. The Super Eagles remaining fixtures are against Australia and Republic of Ireland. Despite them not being favored all the way to qualify from the group they will want to prove doubters wrong and be the upsetters. 

Sinclair fails to get past Nnadozie

Canada were denied a victory by a resilient Nigeria defense as both teams picked up a point in their opening World Cup game. The Canadians dominated the game on all areas of the match but it was not enough to get them the victory. The North Americans will now need a victory against Republic of Ireland if they are to stay in the competition. Then they face a group crunching tie against Australia which would determine who goes top of the group. Canada who were defeated 1-0 by Sweden in the last 16 will want to progress further in the World Cup.
