World Cup Group F: Dream start for Jamaica

World Cup continues to bring surprises

Group F went under way once again. The Reggae Girls took on Les Bleus on their World Cup in their Group opener at Sydney Football Stadium. Despite many backing France Jamaica managed to pull of a 0-0 draw which shocked most people in the football game. So far it was the second 0-0 draw of the 2023 Womens World Cup. Futbol Mundial brings you the best moments from France vs Jamaica.

Jamaica keep France at bay

Jamaica had a dream World Cup start as they were able to deny France the victory after an amazing defensive display. The Reggae Girlz qualified for their second straight World Cup as they came in 3rd place in Concacaf Championship. Jamaica will now believe that they can go one better than their last Campaign after denying the French. They will now go on to face Brazil and Panama in their remaining matches. They will hope to gain inspiration from their draw with France in their remaining games. Unfortunately though for the Reggae Girlz Khadija Shaw was sent off in injury time meaning she will miss the next game. This comes as a big loss for Jamaica as she is a key player for them in this World Cup.

Les Bleus wasteful with their chances

France will be kicking themselves as they felt they should have won the game with all their opportunities. France had registered 14 strikes compared to Jamaica’s 6. Diani had some good opportunities to give France the lead forcing a save from Rebecca Spencer with her first effort. Les Bleus will be extremely disappointed with the way they started their World Cup campaign. It does not get any easier as they face Brazil in their next game which could decide if they go to the next round. They then close off by facing Panama in the last game of their World Cup group.
