World Cup teams that are tipped to go all the way

World Cup action has been full of many eventful moments. From the goals to the drama to the shocks. The group stage of the World Cup has shown us who could potentially go all the way and win the prestigious tournament. Various teams such as Sweden, England and Japan have all proved to be dangerous opponents to anybody they face. Futbol Mundial brings you the teams that are going into the Last 16 in the best shape.

Sweden seen as a top contender

It is by far not a shock to see Sweden as one of the top contenders in this World Cup. Sweden have managed to qualify for the last four knockout stages of the tournament. They proved to be lethal in this group stage winning all three of their games. They came back from behind to beat a South African team that was posing a lot of threat. However their most memorable victory in the World Cup has to be when they run riot against Italy beating them 5-0. They have netted a total of nine goals in three matches. They do however face the daunting task of taking on the four time champions. However they will be more confident knowing that the USWNT team is not in the best shape. So far many would say they go in as favorites.

Can England bring the World Cup home

England have been backed by many fans to bring it home. The Three Lionesses who have never even reached a World Cup final will be seeking to do so for the first time. England has had a promising World Cup campaign so far along with a few other teams. Despite only picking up narrow victories against Haiti and Denmark they still managed to tear China apart. James so far has been the star for England picking up three goals so far. They take on Nigeria who will not go down without a fight and proved themselves in this World Cup campaign. Nigeria’s memorable victory against the hosts is what brought them here thanks to a Oshoala winner.

Japan off to a brilliant start

Japan in many eyes will be the World Cup favorites. The 2011 Champions managed to score 11 goals and concede 0 so far. This proved that they are both effective in attack and defense. Their 4-0 victory against Spain will be one that gives the Japanese lots of confidence. Miyazawa so far leads the scoring charts with four goals alongside Popp. Japan who had an early exit last time around after falling to Holland in the Last 16 will be aiming to right their wrongs. This is the first World Cup tournament with 32 teams and Japan would love to become the first team to win that edition of 32 teams
