La Liga back with a bang

La Liga has returned to action as Sevilla, Valencia, Almeria and Rayo Vallecano all opened up the La Liga campaign. Valencia who had a season to forget got off to a winning start against Sevilla thanks to a Javi Guerra. Rayo Vallecano also got off to a winning start by beating Almeria in a 2-0 victory. Throughout the weekend La Liga will have mouthwatering clashes to kick off the campaign in perfect style. Futbol Mundial brings you the best matches and moments to look out from Matchday one. 

La Liga debutants hoping to make their mark

First off we look at some of the players who will be making their debut in La Liga. The first notable debut will be Bellingham who signed for €103 million and he is arguably the biggest signing in La Liga. The English youngster had a promising World Cup and a strong season for Dortmund nearly leading them to a Bundesliga title. Another big name that arrived in La Liga is Gundogan. The German guided City to a historic treble last season. With his performances in the midfield, his passing and his leadership he could steer Barcelona towards another title. Guler is one of the most promising youngsters in the game. The turkish teenager snubbed Barcelona to join Real Madrid. He is known for his crossing, key passing and through passing. Guler is set to be out for a month and a half which will be a blow to Los Blancos.

Betis take on Villarreal in the biggest game of the opener

One of the most exciting opening day fixtures in La Liga is Villarreal vs Real Betis. This clash is big simply because of what these two teams have achieved in recent years. Betis secured the Copa del Rey in 2022 for the first time since 2005. Villarreal managed to win their first ever trophy by securing the Europa League. They also qualified for the semi-finals of the Champions League. The two were four points apart from each other but still managed to qualify for the Europa League last season. Both clubs have had a fruitful transfer window by strengthening their respective squads. Villarreal signed Ben Diaz, Denis Suarez, Sorloth, Gabbia and other. Whereas Betis added Perez, Roca, Isco and Bellerin. One thing is for sure is that this clash promises to deliver.

Real Madrid to open their campaign against Athletic Club

Athletic Club vs Real Madrid is always a mouthwatering clash. One thing that makes this clash special is the fact that these two clubs have never been relegated from La Liga intheir history. The last time these two met in La Liga they played out to a 1-1 draw. Real Madrid spent €128.5 million this summer on Bellingham, Joselu, Garcia and Guler. Athletic Bilbao added Mallorca midfielder Ruiz da Galaretta to their squad. They were a bit weakened by the loss of Inigo Martinez. This clash always brings many moments to remember and this clash is not expected to be any different. 

Barcelona hoping to get off to a win

The Defending Champions face off against Getafe away from home in their La Liga opener. FC Barcelona always arrives in this clash as favorites however there have been times Azulones shocked the Blaugrana in La Liga. Most recently when these two faced off they played out to a goalless draw. Getafe did add Gaston Alvarez to their squad as well as Alderete however they could have done better in the transfer window. Barcelona also did not add too much to their squad but did manage to secure the services of Gundogan, Romeu and Roque who will join in January.
