Spain win it in extra time

Spain and the Netherlands faced off in the quarterfinals of the World Cup. La Roja managed to edge Holland in extra time as Salma Paralulello scored the winner. Spain has been the better out of the teams in this tournament and deserves a place in the quarterfinals. La Roja have been lethal in front of goal during this tournament. Paraluello the hero of the day for La Roja

It was a historic game for Spain as they advanced to the semi finals for the first time in their history. La Roja took the lead through a penalty which was awarded by VAR which Mariona Caldentey slotted home. Then in stoppage time Holland had got an equalizer to send the game to extra time. Then in the 111th minute Jenni’s pass found Salma Paraluello in space and she dribbled past Nouwen then struck beautifully to regain the lead. Spain have now scored the same amount of goals as Japan (15) so far in this tournament. 

Holland fail in their pursuit to reach another final

It was heartbreak for the Netherlands against Spain as they were aiming to reach another final. Netherlands played a strong match against Spain but at the end La Roja had just a bit too much for them. Van der Gragt had given away a penalty to Spain as a La Roja cross had struck her arm. Van der Gragt managed to redeem herself by scoring for Holland to give them a glimpse of hope. The hero against South Africa Lineth Beerenstyn nearly steered Holland into the lead but her strike was too powerful. At the end it was not to be for Holland who ended crashing out in the quarterfinals.
