Despite France’s efforts it just was not to be for them.

The hosts make history

Van Egmond capitalized on a France error and played the ball in the path of Fowler only for the ball to be cleared off the line. Then 16 minutes after the second half began Hailey Raso forced a magnificent save from Peyraud Magnin as Australia kept the pressure on France. Australia will now go on to face World Cup favorites England in the semi finals of the World Cup.
