Neymar the superstar who faded away

Neymar fails to get his name up with the greats

Neymar was one of the best players of his generation. As a matter of fact he was often compared to Messi and Ronaldo. As the Samba star leaves Europe we look at how the most expensive transfer signing and one of the best players fell from grace. We take a full look at how Neymar could have had his name up in shining lights. Instead however he let his ego get the best of him which deteriorated from his performances.

10 years in Europe comes to an end

Al-Hilal has managed to secure the services of Brazilian star Neymar for a fee of $95 million. The Samba superstar in many eyes has failed to live up to his potential. The Brazilian could not guide Brazil to their 6th World Cup which they were favorites to win. Ever since leaving Barcelona Neymar has failed to live up to the record transfer fee of $242 million. He was struck by injuries which made him miss a total of 101 games. As he leaves Europe we look at what could have been had he stayed. Neymar could have really defined his legacy in the last few years had it not been for Champions League losses. By losing a Champions League final and failing to guide Brazil to World Cup glory he showed that he cant inspire his teams to victory.

Neymar proved he is not a game changer

By losing a Champions League final and failing to guide Brazil to World Cup glory he showed that he cant inspire his teams to victory individually. Despite having the potential he has not really made much of an impact in big games since moving to PSG. Since Neymar arrived he has faced the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool. He has played 16 games against these teams and only found the net only four times against Bayern Munich and Liverpool. This goes on to show that Neymar is not a game changer like he was at FC Barcelona. When he was in Barcelona he played against 25 games against top opposition and scored 14 goals.

Can the Brazilian really be up there with Messi and Ronaldo

Neymar also left Europe at only 31 whereas Messi and Ronaldo left at 36 and 37. This also goes on to show that he never played as long at the top level only playing in Europe for 10 years. By going to Al-Hilal one could easily say that he cannot improve on his rank amongst the greats. Despite Saudi Arabia rapidly growing with stars like Benzema, Ronaldo, Mane and many other it is not at the level of Europe yet. Many could easily argue that being considered one of the greats involves playing in Europe at the top level for many consecutive years. In Neymar’s case a good amount of those years were spent on the sidelines and dealing with unnecessary drama
