England had just too much for Australia

England took on Australia in the semi finals of the World Cup for a place in the final. The Three Lionesses got the better of the Aussies in the semi finals. Goals from Toone, Hemp and Russo were enough to down Australia. England will now go on to face off against La Roja who they will be favorites against. Kerr’s strike not enough for Australia

It was a heartbreaking defeat for Sam Kerr’s Australia as they failed to reach the final in the edition of which they hosted it. Sam Kerr had struck the ball magnificently in to the back of the net to beat Mary Earps which got Australia level. Once Australia equalized they were feeling hopeful they could win the game as they were level on home soil. However a terrible blunder from Australia as they failed to clear the ball which saw Hemp give England the lead. They then went on to concede a third goal against England which put the match beyond them. Australia will now be going for a third place victory over Sweden as a consolation.

Russo secures a spot in the final against Spain

England make history as they reach their first World Cup final. Also both of the teams in the World Cup final have never played in it before meaning Spain and England made history. They played a dominant game and took the lead through Toone in the 36th minute. The Three Lionesses then got a scare as Australia had gotten back in the game through a magnificent Sam Kerr strike. Luckily they survived the scare as Lauren Hemp capitalized on an Australian mistake. Russo then wrapped it up by adding a third. It is the second time she has caught a defense lacking with the first time being against Colombia. England will be going for all the glory when they face Spain on Sunday.
