Champions League games resumed on Tuesday and it gave us plenty of reason to be excited for the new season.

Union Berlin made their Champions League debut against the kings of Europe Real Madrid.

The Germans defended well for most of the match and were very organized in their defensive strategy. Real Madrid without a doubt had a better second half creating more and more chances. They were then able to break Union Berlin’s resistance as Valverde’s deflected strike fell to Bellingham who scored the winner. Once again Real Madrid made it happen in the Champions League proving that this is their competition. Bellingham continued his amazing form.

Barcelona returned to Champions League football in style with a resounding 5-0 victory over Antwerp. Joao Felix continued his great run of form since joining Barcelona by scoring a brace in their Champions League opener. Blaugrana proved to be absolutely lethal against Antwerp scoring three in the first half. Barcelona are hoping to put their Champions League misery behind them and qualify for the knockout stage this season. Barca had missed out for two years running however this time the Catalans are on a mission.
