By Uwe Jon Munyantwali.-Football season always comes with lots of exciting moments and a lot of shocking moments as wel Teams around Europe don’t always live up to their expectations and fail to deliver.

However they are always those teams that come out of nowhere and shock ever. Some of these teams are Girona, Bayer Leverkusen and Tottenham Hotspur. Futbol Mundial brings you the biggest shocks during this football season so far.

Girona is having a historic start to the season and most football fans could not see this coming

Girona is having a historic start to the season and most football fans could not see this coming. On September 29th 2023 The Catalan minnows led the la liga table for the first time in their history. Three years ago Girona were playing Segunda Division football after being relegated from the Spanish top flight in 2019. In nine games this season they have one draw and one defeat which was at the hands of Real Madrid. The likes of Herrera, Dobvyk and Tsygankov have been the main figures for Girona. Girona will look to continue to taking La Liga by storm and shock the world of football. The Blanquivermells are looking like they are on a mission this season as they seek to make this their dream season.

Tottenham is having a football season most people never expected. The last time Tottenham Hotspur led the table was Matchday 12 when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace. Last season Spurs had their worst football season since their campaign in the 2008-09 season. Former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglu is turning things around for the Lilywhites. They were a lot of questions about who would fill the boots of Harry Kane however Son Heung Min managed to do just that. The South Korean has managed to notch 6 goals in 8 appearances being the second highest scorer alongside Isak.

Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen is one of the most in form teams in Europe. Leverkusen are currently unbeaten and sit top of the Bundesliga table. Leverkusen has managed to beat some of the big names in Germany so far like Leipzing, Monchengladbach and even took points from Bayern. Xabi Alonso guided Leverkusen to the semi finals of the Europa League. It was their first time reaching a major European football semi-final since 2002 when they made the final. Alonso’s new Leverkusen is comfortable in and out of possession. With the likes of Boniface, Wirtz, Xhaka, Palacios and others they stand a serious chance at doing something big in European football this season
