Atletico Madrid had taken the lead twice making fans wonder how the match would turn out. Real Madrid will now go on to face FC Barcelona in the final for the second consecutive Supercopa final. Despite Atletico taking the lead twice in regular time Los Blancos resisted to give up and ended up prevailing over their arch rivals. Real Madrid managed to land Los Rojiblancos yet another blow in a cup competition with the previous coming over the last ten seasons. Los Blancos will also feel like they got their payback against Atletico for their defeat to them earlier on in the season. Real Madrid will now be going for the first trophy of the season when they take on FC Barcelona in El Clasico.
Atletico Madrid will be more than disappointed with the outcome considering they took the lead twice. They also were 3-2 up with five minutes to go before Carvajal netted the equalizer which took the match to extra time. Atletico were beginning to tire out which Real Madrid capitalized on scored two goals in extra time.
