Mbappe hands Madrid a boost

Mbappe gives Madrid hope

Mbappe given the green light to return to Real Madrid’s all important final against Barcelona in the Kings Cup. Real Madrid will breathe a sigh of relief as Mbappe’s injury is not as bad as first feared. The Frenchman is not one to usually get injured but he had to be taken off after 75 minutes against Arsenal after twisting his ankle. Mbappe will however miss out on Los Blancos’ all important clash against Getafe on Wednesday.

The Frenchman key to beating Barca

They were cold sweats all around the Bernabeu as their star man was taken off visibly showing some discomfort. It was then later confirmed that the injury was just a sprain and that he would not be out of action for two long. Mbappe has been the main source of Madrid’s goals and having him against Barcelona will be crucial to their chances of winning the cup. Mbappe is a player already familiar with Barcelona and boasts a strong record against them with 7 goals in 6 appearances. Real Madrid have shown a poor tactical approach on crucial games this season which has seen many opposition get the better of them this season.

Real Madrid will also be boosted by the return of Ceballos who has provided some creativity and managed to control the tempo of games. Ceballos has been the closest player to replacing Kroos since he left last summer. Real Madrid boast a strong record against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey in recent years winning their last two finals. However Barcelona do face a very broken and disjointed Madrid team and could look to exploit that once again as they did previously this season. Los Blancos were humiliated in the last two games against the Blaugrana losing 4-0 and 5-2. Barcelona have been known for their high press, their direct play as well as their attacking threat. This could easily expose a Madrid team that lacks balance in the midfield and is vulnerable at the back.
