Messi looking to be the difference for Miami

Vancouver defense wont intimidate Messi

Messi looking to guide Inter Miami past a stubborn Vancouver Whitecaps defense. The last time Inter Miami and Vancouver faced off was last year in the MLS where Miami narrowly edged a heated contest. This fixture will be different though as both will be competing for a place in the final of the Concacaf Champions League. Vancouver Whitecaps will hope to defy the odds and edge past Inter Miami. The game between these two MLS rivals will be Wednesday 10:30 pm.

Vancouver stubborn defense could get the better of Miami

Vancouver Whitecaps have proved to be a tough nut to crack this season. Coming up against their defense is any forward’s nightmare because of their ability to keep their doors shut. Their ability to also score late goals is something they could use to catch out opposition defenses. However this time around they will face a much tougher test against Messi. Out of their six matches in the Concacaf Cup they scored three of their six goals past the 86th minute. They also have many attacking threats with White, Sabbi and Gauld all boasting 14 goals to their name. They also currently sit on top of the western conference league. While Miami maintains possession Vancouver will try catching them out in no mans land. This could give them the opportunity to hopefully grab a goal out of nowhere.

Miami the favorites going into this tie

Inter Miami and Lionel Messi will be familiar with unlocking tough defenses. The Herons had to battle it out from 2-0 down on aggregate to win 3-2 thanks to a brace from Lionel Messi. The Argentine maestro has come up against some of the most difficult defenders and well structured teams in his career. Therefore Vancouver Whitecaps will not intimidate him. They also have the likes of Busquets who provides balance, can dictate play and knows how to control the tempo of the game. Inter Miami have had a reputation of being able to control possession and create chances. Messi possess a serious threat not just from the goalscoring department but also with his vision and sharp passing.
