Inter lose ground to Napoli

Inter fall to second place after brutal defeat

Inter Milan drop points over the weekend as the reigning champions were narrowly beaten by AS Roma. This defeat means that they fall to second place behind Napoli with four games to go. Whereas Napoli will be confident they can see out the rest of the season whilst clinching on to first place. The race still remains close but with Inter’s remaining games and Napoli’s remaining games you expect Napoli to secure their second title in three years.

The Nerazzuri’s lack of creativity proved to be costly

Inter’s hopes of retaining the title took a massive blow this weekend as they failed to respond to AS Roma taking the lead. The Nerazzuri’s season appears to be crumbling before their very own eyes with the Italians suffering their third successive loss. Their treble hopes collapsed last week with their defeat against their bitter rivals AC Milan 3-0. Their loss was attributed to their lack of creativity in the midfield with Calhanoglu and Frattesi failing to connect well with attack. This defeat also does not help their morale going into their juggernaut clash with Barcelona. Inter are in desperate need of a miracle if they are to walk away with something this year.

Roma maintain their unbeaten record

Roma’s aggressive approach against Inter proved to work out for them on the day as they recorded a big win against the reigning champions. Their defensive solidity and intensity proved to be the difference in their win which is always needed against a top notch side against Inter. This win was also a big step in their pursuit to reach the Champions League as they sit two points below Juventus. The Giallorossi have been on a good run of form winning every game with their last defeat coming in December. Claudio Ranieri’s arrival has proven to be instrumental for Roma with the Italians now dreaming of a return to the Champions League.
