Mbappe the frontrunner for the Pichichi
Mbappe manages to eclipse Lewandowski in the Pichici race for the first time this season after his recent hattrick against Barcelona. His hattrick also meant that he broke Ivan Zamorano’s record for most goals in a debut season. Mbappe now leads Lewandowski by two goals in the Pichichi race and will hope to extend his lead with three games to go. In his last two La Liga games he has scored a total of five goals.
The Frenchman looking to add to his accolades
It was no doubt that Mbappe’s arrival at Real Madrid promised goals galore for the Spanish Club and that is exactly what he has brought. The Frenchman struggled to find his best form earlier on in the season but has now finally hit the ground running at Real Madrid. If he is to see out the season as La Liga’s top scorer it would add on to the many golden boots he has won further showcasing his goalscoring prowess. Mbappe has won the Golden Boot in competitions such as the Champions League, World Cup and also won the Ligue 1 golden boot six times. A Pichichi win would make it a perfect individual debut campaign.
The Bondy striker a nightmare for defenders
Mbappe’s amazing goalscoring form can be attributed to his sharp finishing, quick pace and ability to skip past defenders. They were doubts earlier on as to whether he could play in a center forward role but Mbappe managed to find success in that role. His positioning is remarkable as he always knows where to be to slot the ball home and his timing of runs is also something he has improved upon. With Alonso now taking the reigns at Real Madrid and the club making new signings his goalscoring form only promises to get better.
