Kylian Mbappe stars once more

Kylian Mbappe continues to shine under Xabi Alonso after netting a brace against newly promoted side Real Oviedo. The Frenchman scored his third goal of the season as he helped Los Blancos win their first two opening games of the season. Many members of Real Madrid, most notably Xabi Alonso, have noticed that ever since Mbappe has taken up the new No. 10 shirt, he appears more motivated. He seems to be putting in all-round team performances, with the Basque manager heaping praise on the French striker.
Madrid’s hopes on the back of Mbappe’s shoulders

Mbappe will be crucial to Real Madrid’s hopes this season of edging Barcelona and claiming major silverware. Xabi Alonso will continue to demand a more collective effort from Mbappe in order to carry out his style of play. Alonso wants Real Madrid to keep a compact shape off the ball throughout the match in order to suffocate the opponent when they are on the ball and not allow them to play. If Mbappe fully buys into this system, then Los Blancos will manage to dominate matches and win top silverware. Despite Mbappe’s strong numbers last year, Real Madrid failed to win any major trophy—something they will quickly want to change this season.
