Reports have suggested that FIFA President Gianni Infantino held crisis talks with Morocco and allegedly promised them the 2030 World Cup Final at the Hassan II Stadium in exchange for support to help keep his position of power.
This news came after backlash over Infantino’s failed plan to sell stakes in the tournament to private investors, with Spain eyeing Madrid’s Bernabéu as the final venue in the 2030 edition with Morocco and Portugal.
FIFA dismissed the claims as false, releasing a statement to the public on the issue:
“It is false and misleading to claim the FIFA President has made any promise in relation to hosting the FIFA World Cup 2030 Final. A decision will be made by FIFA in due course.”
Despite the statement, several sources from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation confirmed to TalkSPORT that discussions with Infantino regarding the World Cup final being held in Casablanca have taken place.
The next FIFA presidential election is scheduled for March 18, 2027, with official nominations due in November.
