The 8 most expensive transfers of the 2026 summer window

Erick Monroy Sep 3, 2026 3 min read

The summer transfer window for the 2026–2027 season came to a close on Tuesday night, resulting in eight transfers with €95+ million fees. Among the most expensive transfers are those of Morgan Rogers, who transferred from Aston Villa to Chelsea for €138 million, and Enzo Fernández, acquired by Manchester City for €145 million.

1. Enzo Fernández — Chelsea → Man City — €145 million

As the transfer window closed, Enzo Fernández’s move to Manchester City was made official. The Argentine left Chelsea after winning the Conference League and the Club World Cup over 3.5 seasons.

The deal totaled €145 million, making it one of the biggest surprises of the transfer window and the joint most expensive transfer in Premier League history.

2. Morgan Rogers — Aston Villa → Chelsea — €138 million

The English player was the star of the summer’s most expensive transfer up until deadline day. Morgan Rogers left Aston Villa to join Chelsea in a deal worth nearly €138 million. Rogers has had a great start to the season with a goal and an assist in Chelsea’s opening two Premier League games.

3. Elliot Anderson — Nottingham Forest → Man City — €135 million

Manchester City also made a major move for Elliot Anderson. The English midfielder arrived from Nottingham Forest in a deal worth €135 million. Anderson’s transfer was the most expensive deal completed up to that point, and was the first piece of City’s €375 million midfield rebuild.

4. Yan Diomande — RB Leipzig → Real Madrid — €125 million

Real Madrid signed Ivorian winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig for €125 million.

The amount made the move the most expensive transfer in Real Madrid’s history. The deal also included performance-based bonuses, though for this ranking, the figure of €125 million is used. Diomande has slowly been integrated into Mourinho’s side to start the season and has yet to start for Los Blancos.

5. Bradley Barcola — Paris Saint-Germain → Liverpool — €125 million

Liverpool secured one of France’s greatest offensive talents by paying €125 million to Paris Saint-Germain for Bradley Barcola. This is Liverpool’s third €125m+ attacker signing since last summer following the additions of Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz before the 2025/26 season.

6. Sandro Tonali — Newcastle United → Tottenham — €108 million

Tottenham broke its transfer record with the arrival of Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United. The deal was initially valued at €108 million, with an additional €8.8 million in potential bonuses. Spurs have not had the best start to the season, but Tonali will play a big role moving forward.

7. Mateus Fernandes — West Ham → Tottenham — €99 million

Portuguese midfielder Mateus Fernandes became another major signing for Tottenham. The midfielder arrived from West Ham for €99 million, making him the second-most-expensive signing in the London club’s history, second only to Tonali in this same transfer window.

8. Ayyoub Bouaddi — Lille → Man City — €95 million

The young Moroccan midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi was another of this summer’s major transfers. Manchester City agreed to a €100 million deal with Lille, consisting of an initial €95 million plus €5 million in variables. Bouaddi made his debut last week, playing 8 minutes off the bench against Crystal Palace.
