Premier League returns to action this weekend with a 10-game slate from Saturday to Monday, highlighted by the Manchester Derby at Old Trafford.
AFC Bournemouth vs. Brentford

Bournemouth have been the definition of unlucky to start the season. They are the first Premier League team to score first in all three opening matches and win none. However, this is not new under Marco Rose this season, as they struggled to hold leads last season as well. Bournemouth have dropped a league-high 29 points from winning positions since last season and now face a Brentford side who has performed well in their recent matchups.
Brentford have won seven of their last 10 meetings with Bournemouth, losing none. The last time Bournemouth won at home to Brentford was back in May 2021, failing to win in five home matchups since. After a big opening day win vs. Tottenham, Brentford have drawn their last two matches and will be looking to get back to winning ways on the road.
Aston Villa vs. Nottingham Forest

Aston Villa and Unai Emery came into the season with high expectations but have had a poor start to the domestic campaign. With no goals scored yet, Villa are only the second team to go scoreless in the opening three top-flight games of consecutive seasons. They performed well midweek against Club Brugge, and now face a Nottingham Forest team with big expectations under Glasner. The coaching matchup favors Forest, with Glasner never losing to Emery’s Villa in five meetings as Crystal Palace manager.
Chelsea vs. Hull City

Chelsea might be the best offensive team in the Premier League at the moment. Despite the loss last weekend to Arsenal, Chelsea’s early goal made them the first Premier League team ever to score inside five minutes in their first three games. However, their defensive side of the game raises concern. Chelsea have conceded 7 goals in three league matches and allowed Leeds to score three goals in midweek EFL Cup action. Hull City have yet to concede in the Premier League this season but have never won in 18 league visits to Chelsea.
Crystal Palace vs. Ipswich Town

Both Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town have won a game each this season, but the hosts will feel this is a great opportunity to pick up some points at home against a newly promoted side. Ipswich have not kept a Premier League clean sheet in 22 matches, conceding 2.6 goals per game, so it’s expected to see some goals from Palace on Saturday.
Liverpool vs. Fulham

While the attention may be on Liverpool after winning just one of their first three Premier League matches, Fulham have all the headlines at the moment as they have failed to pick up a point this season. It’s a worrying sign for Arbeloa at the moment, as Fulham have only lost their opening three league games twice before and both of those seasons ended in relegation. For Liverpool, they come into Saturday off the momentum of a big midweek Champions League win vs. Atletico Madrid. Liverpool have won four of their last five matches against Fulham at Anfield and will believe they can win against a struggling Fulham team.
Tottenham vs. Everton

Tottenham made all the headlines this summer with their spending, but the performances have yet to live up to the hype. Spurs are scoreless in their first three league games for the first time since 1975, and will be hoping for some production from their new signings Omar Marmoush and Savinho. This would definitely be the match to turn things as Spurs have won their last five home meetings against Everton. The Merseyside club are unbeaten in six matches and can pose a threat, as shown in their matchup against Man United last weekend.
Sunderland vs. Arsenal

Arsenal have had a great start to the season and a trip to the Stadium of Light will not scare them. Sunderland have never beaten Arsenal in 16 Premier League meetings, and all four of their matches this season have produced two goals or fewer. With Arsenal being one of the best defensive teams in the world, a 1-0 result to Arsenal sounds like a very likely scenario. The Gunners have benefited on the offensive side with the resurgence of their club captain. Ødegaard has four goals in five appearances this season after scoring just once in 36 last season.
Coventry City vs. Brighton

Coventry City have yet to score in the Premier League this season and have not started a campaign with four straight defeats since the 1919-20 season. These types of fixtures have gone in Brighton’s favor, losing just one of their last 14 matches against promoted sides. Brighton have already scored 8 league goals this season and are the joint-highest scoring team with Chelsea.
Manchester United vs. Manchester City

The Manchester derby is without a doubt the highlight of this weekend. Man City have been clicking under Maresca to start the season, while United have conceded 2+ goals in all three league games. United won the last derby at Old Trafford, 2-0, but have lost 8 of 16 at home vs. City. The very unpopular and Premier League record signing Enzo Fernandez will be playing in his first Manchester derby, and all attention will be on the midfield battle between Tielemans/Mainoo and Anderson/Fernandez. Anything can happen in a derby, and that’s exactly why it will be must-see TV.
Leeds United vs. Newcastle United
Date / Where to Watch: Monday, 3:00 PM ET (USA Network)
Closing the weekend on Monday, Leeds will host Newcastle in what will be a competitive match against two teams yet to lose in the Premier League this season. Newcastle are unbeaten in their last six meetings against Leeds, drawing four of those matches. Both teams were on opposite sides of the spectrum in their last match, with Leeds losing a 2-0 lead to Chelsea before allowing six second-half goals in a 6-3 League Cup defeat. For Newcastle, they came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Bournemouth.
