MLS Round 22 results: Nashville continues record start, while Inter Miami ends winless streak with 7-1 victory

Major League Soccer (MLS) returned following midweek Leagues Cup action, with Nashville continuing their record start with yet another win.

Nashville has the most points by any MLS team at this stage of the season

Nashville’s 52 points from 22 games is the most by any team at this point of an MLS season. With three straight wins before Saturday, Nashville have dominated on the offensive end of the ball and once again found their groove this weekend. Despite FC Cincinnati’s offensive prowess, Nashville not only shut them down, but scored four goals themselves. Hany Mukhtar was once again the man of the match, and now has 10 goals and 6 assists in 22 games this season.

Inter Miami end winless streak with 7 goals against Montreal

Inter Miami were going through their worst form of the season before this weekend, but Messi led the way at Nu Stadium with four goals in a historic victory. With Messi’s offensive showcase, he now leads the Golden Boot race with 18 goals.

The victory marked the first time that Miami scored seven goals in a league game, and snapped their four-game winless streak. New manager Kily González will take charge after Hoyos was relieved after Miami’s recent poor form. Despite the win, Miami still find themselves 10 points behind first-place Nashville.

Vancouver create gap at the top of the Western Conference

Vancouver have had success recently, which has created their four-point gap over Houston with a game in hand. The Whitecaps have scored 11 goals in their last five matches, conceding just two goals in the process. On the road at Kansas City this weekend, Vancouver won 3-0 with goals from Thomas Muller, Brian White, and Rayan Elloumi.
