Benfica may be slight favorites entering this clash

Benfica will want to add onto an already fantastic season

Benfica vs Inter Milan will be an amazing clash full of lots of attacking players. The last time these two sides faced off was the 1965 Champions League Final. The first leg will be at Benfica’s and they will want to maximize the advantage of being at home. This is a clash that will be difficult to find a favorite however both teams will definitely fancy their chances. Benfica has been in great form this season in the Champions League and they will want to better their season and make the semifinals. Futbol Mundial brings you how both teams enter this clash.

Benfica’s attacking options could expose Inter

Benfica did the miraculous and managed to overtake Paris Saint Germain in their group standings. A Joao Mario goal in the 92nd minute confirmed that Benfica would be group leaders. They would then go on to beat Club Brugge 5-0 on aggregate further proving why they should be feared. One man to look out for in this clash will without a doubt be Goncalo Ramos. He starred in Portugal’s 6-1 win over Switzerland scoring a hattrick taking Portugal to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2006. He is also top scorer in the Portuguese League with 17 in 23 appearances. Another player to look out for will be Joao Mario who has 17 in 26 appearances. He is also top of the goalscoring charts with Ramos. He scored the big goal to send Benfica top of their group and will be instrumental for Benfica against the Nerazzuri.

Inter lack the quality to match Benfica

Inter Milan is currently 5th and need the Champions League to save their season. Nerazzuri will be playing their first quarter final since 2011 when they were thrashed by Schalke 04 7-3 on aggregate. They are in the semifinals of the Coppa Italia and will face Juventus again after drawing against them 1-1 at the Allianz Stadium. Lukaku’s return to Inter has been quite disappointing as he has only managed to score six goals in all competitions this season. However he did come up with a big goal for the Nerazzuri against Porto which saw them advance. Inter currently do not have many attacking threats and solely rely on Martinez for the goals which could play to Benfica’s advantage. They will need Onana to come up big again like he did against Porto. Due to Inter’s current circumstances Benfica may just have too much for them.
