Guardado’s European journey comes to an end

https://www.futbolmundial.com/ After 17 years in European soccer, Mexican midfielder Andrés Guardado has closed in on a return to Club Leon. Guardado’s contract with Real Betis was due to expire in June 30th which is the upcoming transfer window.

His transfer to Club Leon means he will be playing in LIGA MX for the first time since 2007 where he represented Atlas. Guardado had requested a transfer from Real Betis in favor of returning to his home country. His departure is set to free up space for in the salary books for Los Verdiblancos who were paying the Mexican international $1,537, 709 per year.

The negotiations for the termination of the contract are very advanced, to the point that Betis has prepared a small tribute to the Guadalajara footballer, who is the foreigner with the most official matches in the club’s history. His departure also made it easier for them to afford Cardoso who is set to replace Guardado. Guardado’s played a total number of 218 games for Betis and his most memorable moment to date was the Copa del Rey victory over Valencia.
