Real Madrid have won three out of three games to start their La Liga campaign, with another dominant performance at the Santiago Bernabeu. Following their midweek 4-1 win vs. Sociedad, Los Blancos entered today’s match vs. Malaga with confidence as Jose Mourinho continues to unlock this star-studded Madrid squad.
A great first 30 minutes to seal the match
Jude Bellingham started the show for Madrid as he opened the scoring in the 19th minute. The English midfielder found the ball centrally from 25 yards out, held off pressure from Recio and danced around Rafita before cleanly striking the ball into the bottom-left corner.
Just six minutes later, Real added a second with Jude once again at the heart of the action. Bellingham would have thought he got his second of the day, but it was Malaga keeper Alfonso Herrero who got the final touch. Brahim Diaz drove the ball forward and played Mbappe, who turned sharply in the area. His initial shot was saved by Herrero, but it spun up into the path of Bellingham, who was there to head the ball goalwards. Unfortunately, it was Herrero who was credited with the own goal after Puga hit the ball against him while trying to clear it.
Things went from bad to worse for Malaga when Mbappe added a third for Madrid in the 30th minute. Madrid played the ball forward quickly, pushing out wide to Trent. The full-back whipped in a lovely first-time cross, and Mbappe was there to strike the ball past Herrero.
A tame second half and a great injury-time goal
Madrid added their final goal of the match in the 91st minute via Arda Guler. Vinicius Jr. got the ball out wide and carried it down the wing before cutting it back for Guler, who finished from close range.
Los Blancos got the three points they needed, continued their perfect start, and kept much-needed pressure on a Barcelona team that is also playing great to start the season. Next up for Real Madrid is a trip to Sevilla to face Real Betis on Friday, September 4.
