América defeated Atlético de San Luis at home in Matchday 4 and remains undefeated in the 2026 Apertura with a convincing 3-0 victory.
The game got off to an intense start, with both teams playing aggressively. Around the midway point of the first half, San Luis began to find their rhythm and came close to opening the scoring in the 25th minute, but a save by Ramón Juárez near the goal line prevented it.
Two minutes later, Raphael Veiga scored the first goal for the Águilas—and the only one of the first half—with a long-range shot from outside the box.
At the start of the second half, things got complicated for Atlético de San Luis when Robson Bambu was sent off in the 47th minute for a second yellow card, and in the 52nd minute, they conceded a second goal to the Azulcrema, scored by Óscar Perea, who was making his Liga BBVA MX debut.
América’s third goal came in the 66th minute from academy product Diego Arriaga. That goal effectively sealed the match for Guillermo Almada’s team, which ultimately secured the victory without conceding a goal, despite the visiting team’s attempts to pull one back. The match finished 3–0 in America’s favor, securing their spot at the top of the Liga MX.
