Xavi Hernandez has named his first squad as Oranje head coach ahead of an extended international window that will see the team take on Germany, Serbia twice, and Greece in the UEFA Nations League.
The first 26-man squad under Xavi includes two standout first-time call-ups: PSV winger Ruben van Bommel and Feyenoord midfielder Gjivai Zechiël. The new-look Dutch squad comes with notable omissions, as Memphis Depay, the Netherlands’ all-time leading scorer, has been left out entirely, along with veterans Wout Weghorst and Stefan de Vrij. Despite the big changes in the Netherlands squad, captain Virgil van Dijk remains a central figure in Xavi’s plans for the future.
