With the season officially underway, all Premier League teams still have the opportunity to get involved in the transfer market until Tuesday, September 1. As the big six clubs aim to compete for the title this season, the market still offers opportunities for major players to make game-changing moves to the biggest teams in the nation.
Arsenal
Arsenal’s final piece to the equation could very much be an attacker. With the midfield reinforcement of Bruno Guimaraes improving that aspect of their squad, there still needs to be a star attacker who could help take them over the European hump.
Vinicius Jr. was Arsenal’s primary target, but their attempt to lure him from Madrid failed. Although Arsenal spent nearly £64 million on Viktor Gyokeres last season, they can still benefit from a goal-scoring striker. Rumors have indicated that Arsenal are interested in Julian Alvarez. A blockbuster deal for the Atletico striker would most likely be a Premier League record, and there’s no clear sign that Alvarez would be interested in the move. Despite the doubts, Alvarez would without a doubt transform Arsenal’s front line.
Chelsea
Chelsea’s transfer targets ahead of the transfer deadline will heavily depend on what happens with Enzo Fernandez. The Argentinian midfielder is heavily linked to Manchester City, and a late transfer could trigger another move for Chelsea. With £300 million already spent, it will be interesting to see how much they would be willing to spend.
Alex Scott and Adam Wharton will likely be the primary targets, with Chelsea showing interest in both earlier in the window. Alex Scott would be great support to Moises Caicedo and would likely be the priority target if Enzo departs in the following week.
Liverpool
This one is simple. Bradley Barcola is 100% Liverpool’s primary target for the left wing. With 34 goals and 26 assists across the last two seasons, Liverpool are in desperate need of a player who can both score while providing a creative presence to their attack. With Liverpool already investing £225 million last season for Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, Liverpool seem willing to spend another £100 million on Barcola.
Manchester City
Man City have already invested over £200 million on Elliot Anderson and Ayyoud Bouaddi, but it seems like the Cityzens are not done with their midfield revamp. With Rodri, Bernardo, Nico, and Reijnders all departing this summer, acquiring central midfielders is essential for City this summer. Enzo Maresca and the board clearly want to make a move for Enzo Fernandez, but how much will they have to pay?
Manchester United
It’s 2026, and United are still starting Luke Shaw at left-back. With a lackluster investment in defense so far, a new left-back is probably the biggest gap in the back line. Alejandro Balde has emerged as a leading target with rumors suggesting he wants a move away from Barcelona. While his form has dropped since emerging through the academy ranks, a new environment could help the 22-year-old defender.
Tottenham
While Savio’s transfer has already been completed, Omar Marmoush’s move from Man City has yet to be completed. With a desperate need for more attackers, Tottenham should look at options on the left wing. Amine Gouiri has emerged as a late target for Tottenham, with the Marseille winger recording eight goals and three assists last season. After a disappointing opening match, it was quite evident that Spurs need new attackers.
