PSG reaches the final after edging Arsenal
PSG edge closer to finally securing Europe’s most prestigious trophy after beating Arsenal to reach the final. Paris Saint Germany will now be entering the final as massive favorites to finally clinch their first Champions League. After multiple efforts to win the tournament in the past failed they finally stand their best chance at winning it. PSG also secured another Ligue 1 title a few weeks ago with a convincing win over Saint Etienne. Arsenal on the other hand will have to continue their wait for the Champions League title. The Gunners were relying on the Champions League to end their five year drought for silverware. PSG will however have to get past an aggressive and defensively solid Inter to win the UCL.
Donnarumma to the rescue
Donnarumma came up trumps once again to keep his teams hopes of winning the Champions League alive with a string of great saves. The Italian shotstopper has arguably been the keeper of the tournament pulling a number of great saves against Liverpool, Villa and Arsenal. PSG will also have their formidable attack to thank as they seem almost unstoppable on the counter attack. Their ability to also control matches with their attacking dominance has also played a role in where they are now. PSG is also not just built around one player like we have seen in the past. Rather this PSG team has a better all round team structure with players like Dembele, Vitinha and Hakimi all playing key roles in this new team.
Arsenal lack the cutting edge to get over the line
Arsenal were denied by a pure goalkeeping masterclass by Donnarumma which was a key factor in Les Parisiens progression. As good as the Gunners have been in the last few seasons you just feel that they struggle to get over the line when it really matters. Since Arteta joined the club they have fallen short narrowly in the premier league on multiple occasions. With Arsenal being the well balanced team that they are you felt this might just be the season where they went all the way. Their boast a very solid defense, a midfield that can maintain possession and control the tempo of the and world class wingers that can create chances. You felt with all these attributes they might just be able to go all the way but that did not prove to he the case.
