Rayo Vallecano makes history as the side from Vallecas reach their first ever European Cup final. Rayo Vallecano managed to narrowly edge Ligue 1 side Strasbourg 2-0 thanks to goals from Alemao in each leg. A win against Crystal Palace would see them secure a spot in the Europa League. Although they enter as underdogs, Rayo has a reputation in La Liga for causing massive upsets and held both Real Madrid and Barcelona to draws at their home.

Palace looking to capitalize through Mateta

Crystal Palace will likely rest their players for the final game against Arsenal, given that they have little left to fight for in the Premier League. The Glaziers will look to lean towards their attacking prowess with Mateta expected to lead the line for Oliver Glasner’s side. This will also be a chance for Palace to give Glasner a happy send off after his incredible two year stint marked with two trophies. Despite having an underwhelming season, Glasner has been able to have European success and could wash away the bad memories of this season with a triumph in Leipzig.

Can Rayo increase Spain’s all time record vs the English

Rayo on the other hand will want to secure themselves a place in Europe next season, in case they are not able to lift the Conference League. A win for Rayo would extend Spain’s lead in their head to head record to 10 wins over English opposition compared to the English’s two wins. Rayo Vallecano will look to control the pace of the game in order to stamp their authority over Crystal Palace. The side from Madrid will be looking towards their star man Isi Palazon to construct attacks and help them get the better of the trio backline of Richards, Lacroix and Pivot. Alemao, who has proven to be decisive after coming up clutch with some crucial knockout stage goals, will be looking to guide Rayo to victory.
