What is to come in the League Cup

The league cup final is here and everything is up for grabs. Both teams have not won a trophy in over five seasons. The last time Manchester United won a trophy was in 2017 when they triumphed in the Europa League beating Ajax 2-0. Last time when Newcastle United won a trophy was in 1955 when they defeated Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

Toons searching for their first ever trophy in over 65 years

The toons are dreaming of a miracle to overcome Manchester United. When these two teams last faced each off against each other was in October 2022 and they played out to a 0-0 draw. The last time Newcastle United got a victory over Manchester United was over three years ago in a 1-0 victory at home.  Newcastle is currently in 5th place in the premier league with two games in hand. Last time Newcastle was in this position was over 20 years ago in the 2011-12 season. They have a chance to jump Tottenham and move to fourth place if they win their games in hand. Newcastle United’s attack has been in fire as Almiron has 10 goals and 1 assist whereas Wilson has 7 goals and 3 assists.

United confidence up after knocking out Catalan giants

Manchester United on the other hand have been flying. Since November 10th they have only recorded one defeat which was to first place Arsenal. Manchester United will be heading into this clash beaming with confidence after just knocking out Barcelona in the Europa League. This is the best Manchester United that there has been in many years. Erik Ten Hag has worked wonders since arriving getting the absolute best out of Marcus Rashford and the whole team. They will be leaning on Rashford to get them past Newcastle United as he has been in hot form since returning from the break. Manchester United go into this clash as overwhelming favorites. However in football anything is possible.
