Real Madrid reached an agreement with Levante for the transfer of Carlos Espí. The Spanish striker signed a five-year contract with Real Madrid after three seasons at Levante, during which he scored 20 goals in 66 appearances. Last season was Espí’s breakout season, scoring 11 league goals and being named the best U-23 player in La Liga.
After being linked to a move to the Premier League, Espí moved to Real Madrid for €25 million after triggering his release clause. He quickly joined training and already made his debut in today’s friendly match against Fiorentina, held at the Wörthersee Stadion in Klagenfurt, Austria.
Following his appearance off the bench, Espi spoke to Real Madrid TV:
“Debuting today with Real Madrid is unique. It’s an enormous pride, and I’m very happy. It’s indescribable—everything has happened in just two days: I signed, trained, and now I’ve already debuted. It’s incredible. It’s my first match, and I’ve only been training with them for a day. I need to get a feel for things, and I’m very happy.”
