Lionel Messi proved once again that he remains unstoppable. With a monumental performance, the Argentine star scored four goals on Saturday to lead Inter Miami’s crushing 7-1 rout of CF Montreal.
With this “four-goal performance,” the Inter Miami captain not only had a night to remember but also rewrote the record books: he became the fastest player in MLS history to record 20 multi-goal games, achieving the feat in just 72 matches. In addition, he reached 17 goals this season, surpassing FC Dallas forward Petar Musa to take sole possession of the lead in the league’s Golden Boot race.

The No. 10’s masterclass included two goals on free kicks. In the 40th minute, Messi restored Miami’s lead with a curling free kick that the Montreal defense couldn’t control. Early in the second half, he held his ground amid traffic in the box to finish with a powerful shot into the net.
The show continued in the 83rd minute, when he perfectly executed a chip shot to lob goalkeeper Thomas Gillier as he came off his line. Finally, he capped off his performance in stoppage time with a spectacular free kick that cleared the wall and nestled into the right side of the net.
This is the first time Messi has scored four goals in a single game since arriving in Major League Soccer. Previously, the World Cup champion had already recorded two hat tricks while playing for Inter Miami: one against the New England Revolution in 2024 and another against Nashville SC in 2025.
