FIFA will sell the turf from the 2026 World Cup Final: How much will it cost to own a piece of history?

Lluvia Zazueta Jul 12, 2026 3 min read

The 2026 FIFA World Cup continues to break the mold, and this time not just on the field. With just a few days to go before the grand Final, set to take place on July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium, football’s governing body announced one of the most exclusive collectibles it has ever released: authentic pieces of the turf where the new world champion will be crowned.

The initiative is part of a limited edition developed in collaboration with the British company Keep Stub and is aimed at collectors and fans looking to preserve a unique memento of football’s most important tournament.

How much does a piece of turf from the World Cup Final cost?

The most affordable version is priced at $450, though special editions can cost up to $3,000, depending on the accessories and commemorative items included.

Each piece will be limited to 2,026 units, a number chosen in honor of the year the World Cup—co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada—is being held.

What does the collectible include?

Buyers will receive an authentic piece of the turf used during the Final, encased in acrylic resin to ensure its preservation.

In addition, the keepsake includes:

  • A commemorative design of the 2026 World Cup Final.
  • The date and venue of the match.
  • The official result of the match once it has been played.
  • A digital certificate of authenticity.
  • A built-in USB drive with exclusive content related to the event.

Premium editions include special items such as a replica of the Final match ball, a commemorative metal ticket, and even a glass replica of the World Cup trophy.

An exclusive collector’s item

FIFA is promoting this product as an opportunity for fans to own “an authentic piece of football history.”

The fragments will be retrieved from the field once the Final concludes and subsequently encapsulated to preserve their original condition. Shipments will begin after the match and, for now, will only be available to addresses in the United States and select European countries.

A souvenir that’s also sparking debate

The launch has sparked mixed reactions among fans.

While some consider it a unique and one-of-a-kind collectible, others have questioned the high price, especially following the criticism FIFA has received over the cost of tickets for the 2026 World Cup.

If all available pieces are sold, various estimates suggest the initiative could generate more than $11 million in revenue for FIFA.

With this strategy, the organization continues to expand its lineup of official products for the 2026 World Cup, allowing the most passionate fans to keep a physical memento of the tournament’s most important match—even taking home a small piece of the very same field where a new chapter in foorball history will be written.
