Enzo Fernandez could be on the move to Manchester City, with Enzo Maresca showing immense interest in recruiting the Argentine midfielder.
After missing out on the Premier League title the last two seasons, the Cityzens will be eager to catapult themselves back to the pinnacle of English football. With Rodri’s exit considered all but confirmed, Man City will eagerly need to bolster their midfield in order to boost their chances of challenging for all titles this season.
Maresca is no stranger to working with Enzo Fernandez, as he worked with the Argentine for two seasons when he was at Chelsea. The Italian manager was able to get the best out of the Argentine midfielder during his time in West London, transforming Enzo into one of the best midfielders in the league. Maresca’s fluid style of play saw Enzo play a crucial role for Chelsea when off the ball, with his movements disorganizing opponents’ shape and creating space for his teammates to run into. Given the prior evidence, all signs lead to one believing that there would be no reason why Enzo Fernandez would not succeed at Manchester City.
However, a move to Man City is not going to be as straightforward as many hope. Chelsea have given Man City a deadline of Friday, 5 pm UK time to make a move for Enzo Fernandez and are asking for a £120 million fee in the process. Given that they already splashed the cash and went all out on Elliot Anderson, City will definitely hope to negotiate a lower price to secure the World Cup winner’s services. On top of this, Ayyoub Bouaddi’s move from Lille also continues to be in the works, with some reports suggesting that City could pay close to £85m for the Moroccan midfielder.
