João Pedro – Chelsea – Forward – 7.5 million
João Pedro is Chelsea’s number nine heading into the new season, barring them bringing in any striker reinforcements before the window shuts. The Brazilian was joint fifth for goals scored last season and brought in the fourth-highest points out of all the forwards in FPL last season. Even so, he remains at the same price tag he started the last campaign. Chelsea have already added more firepower in attacking areas with Morgan Rogers joining the club this week, which should help provide support behind Pedro. It’s a must-buy to join up with Haaland in your forward lines.
Antonee Robinson – Fulham – Defender – 4.5 million
The Fulham full-back loves to bomb up and down that left flank, bringing in points for both defensive and attacking actions. The American was not impressive in terms of FPL points last season; however, there is a reason he is on this list for must-buy players. Fulham have parted ways with Raúl Jiménez and Harry Wilson over the summer, meaning they will have a new designated penalty taker. The talk on the street is that Robinson is likely to be the player who steps up. If this is true, a 4.5 million defender who takes penalties and starts every game is a must-have in your squad. One to keep an eye on!
Rio Ngumoha – Liverpool – Midfielder – 6.0 million
Ngumoha broke onto the scene last season and by the end of the campaign was starting for Liverpool on the left flank. The Reds have already turned down a huge offer from Bayern Munich this summer and have made it clear that they have no intention of selling the youngster. This would suggest he is in with a good chance of making that left wing spot his own heading into the season. One to keep an eye on over the course of pre-season, as we are also yet to see if Liverpool pursue a move for PSG’s Bradley Barcola. As of now, he will most likely start, and 6 million for Liverpool’s starting left winger is an absolute steal.
Mateus Fernandes – Tottenham – Midfielder – 6.0 million
Fernandes was brought in by Tottenham this summer for a staggering £85 million from relegated West Ham United. Although he didn’t put up anything special in terms of FPL points last season, it was clear he was the best player in a struggling West Ham side. Fernandes was wanted by the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United this summer before ending up in North London. He has something special, which could see him explode under De Zerbi in this new-look Tottenham side. In their first pre-season game, he was played in a more advanced position, in the number 10 role, whereas last season he was primarily a number eight. In the third minute, a ball dropped to Fernandes on the volley, just outside the area, and he hit it sweetly into the top corner. If this is a sign of things to come, he could look a bargain after a few games.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin – Leeds – Forward – 6.0 million
Another 6 million bargain and this time it is Calvert-Lewin, who, if last season is anything to go by, is guaranteed goals. The veteran striker put up 14 goals last season and was getting shouts of an England call-up ahead of the 2026 World Cup. The Englishman is Leeds’ number nine heading into the new season and also takes penalties. It’s a safe purchase for your team and is a good, cheaper option to partner Erling Haaland.
