The second semifinal of the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off today in Atlanta at 3:00 pm ET. With a spot in the final on the line, both teams know this will be their biggest challenge yet. With Spain’s win against France yesterday, we are guaranteed either a 2024 Euro Final rematch or the cancelled 2026 Finalissima matchup.
England’s Starting XI
XI: Pickford, James, Konsa, Stones, Spence, Rice, Anderson, Rogers, Bellingham, Gordon, Kane
England have made multiple changes heading into tonight. Reece James and Djed Spence replace Ezri Konsa and Nico O’Reilly in the backline, while Morgan Rogers gets that nod at RW over both Noni Madueke and Bukayo Saka.
For Morgan Rogers, this is just his second start of the tournament and his first at right wing.
Argentina’s Starting XI
XI: Martinez, Molina, Romero, Martinez, Tagliafico, Simeone, Paredes, Enzo, Mac Allister, Alvarez, Messi
Heading into tonight, there was speculation that Scaloni would be making a change following their performance against Switzerland. The one change Argentina have made is the inclusion of Guiliano Simeone in place of Rodrigo De Paul. Simeone has played just 71 minutes this tournament, in a rotated squad vs. Jordan. For a player who has yet to play in the knockout stage, this is a big call for the Argentina manager.
