Liverpool humiliates Manchester United

The history behind the rivalry

Liverpool and Manchester United is arguably the most fierce rivalries in England and one of the most fierce rivalries in sports history. When these two teams you can sense the tension between the fans, the players and everyone involved in the club. Whoever wins when these two teams play has all the bragging rights in the world. When the two most successful clubs in English football face off it is a must watch clash.

Liverpool have been revived

Manchester United who only lost one since the World Cup break were utterly humiliated today by Liverpool.  This is the fixture that Manchester United despise more than any other fixture in the world. The last time that Manchester United won here was 2016 with Rooney scoring the only goal. Liverpool have been unbeaten in their last five games only drawing once with Crystal Palace. They also kept a clean sheet in their last five games proving that their defense is back to normal. They have a fixture against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu and all though their chances of qualifying are very slim they will still fancy their chances.

A defeat to forget

Arguably the most humiliating defeat in their history Manchester United will want to move on and forget about this as quickly as possible. Out of their last five fixture at the kop they have lost four times and conceding a shocking 16 goals making it a fixture to dislike for Manchester United. On Thursday their focus switches to the Europa League where they face Real Betis at home. Despite the disgraceful loss they are still four points ahead of Tottenham being in 3rdplace with a game in hand. It was a real wake up call for Erik Ten Hag and his boys and will hope to avoid the same mistake in the near future.

Both teams will give their all for a top four position

This is an awfully competitive premier league season and both teams are battling it out for a top four position. Liverpool have a game in hand and could use that to equal Spurs on points. Manchester United is already in third place which means they would be qualifying for Europe if things remain the same. However as competitive as the premier league is nothing is guaranteed with more than 10 fixtures left to play. Liverpool, Newcastle and Tottenham will all fancy their chances if a top four finish but out of these four teams Liverpool is the favorite.
