Manchester City confirm UEFA Champions League squad for the 2026-27 season

Xavi Pazmino Sep 4, 2026 2 min read

Manchester City have announced their 23-man squad for this season’s UEFA Champions League, with Nico O’Reilly still qualifying through List B.

Why 23 and not 25 players in their UCL squad?

Despite being allowed 25 players on their squad, Enzo Maresca named only 23, with at least four of those squad places reserved for players trained by the club itself. City only have two players who qualify under this benchmark, with Phil Foden and Rico Lewis both coming through the ranks of City’s academy. Under UEFA regulations, those two unfilled spots for locally-trained players can be used on another senior player. Therefore, City can only list 23 players, instead of the allowed 25 players.

Both Nico O’Reilly and Ryan McAidoo, who are expected to play roles under Maresca this season, qualify for List B, which can be updated during the competition and predominantly features U21 players.

Manchester City’s Champions League “List A” Squad

Goalkeepers: Donnarumma, Rulli, Bettinelli, Chabot.

Defenders: Lewis, Khusanov, Reis, Dias, Guéhi, Gvardiol, Aït-Nouri, Nunes

Midfielders: Kovačić, Anderson, Bouaddi, Fernández, Cherki, Foden

Forwards: Doku, Allan, Ndiaye, Semenyo, Haaland.
