Toluca FC was crowned champion of the 2026 Leagues Cup after defeating C.F. Monterrey 2-0 in the Final played at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas, completing their run to the title in front of a sold-out crowd of 21,144 fans and surpassing one million total attendees during the tournament.
With the victory, Toluca FC lifted the Leagues Cup trophy and wrote a new chapter in the competition’s history. The win also secured the team a spot in the Round of 16 of the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup. The Final also marked a historic moment for the Leagues Cup, as Toluca FC became the first LIGA MX club to win the tournament in its modern era—following its expansion and designation as an official Concacaf-sanctioned competition in 2023.
Before the Final kicked off, Javier “Chicharito” Hernández performed the ceremonial unveiling of the Leagues Cup trophy, flipping its double-sided design for the first time—from the MLS side to the LIGA MX side. The flip symbolized that, following Toluca FC’s victory, the trophy would be engraved on the LIGA MX side for the first time.
Toluca struck early with a goal by Alexis Vega in the 4th minute and sealed the championship with a goal by Helinho in the second half, in the 70th minute. Helinho was also named Player of the Match, presented by GEICO.
Prior to the Final, Club León defeated Club América in the Third-Place Match and secured the tournament’s final spot in the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup, completing a podium made up entirely of LIGA MX clubs, alongside champion Toluca FC and runner-up C.F. Monterrey.

The tournament, which began with 36 clubs—18 from MLS and 18 from LIGA MX—featured 62 matches played throughout August and concluded with a doubleheader that determined the champion on Sunday, September 6, including 58 interleague matches held in stadiums across the United States, Canada, and—for the first time in history—Mexico.
Fans in more than 100 countries and regions were also able to follow the competition on Apple TV, while select matches were broadcast on TelevisaUnivision, FS1, Imagen TV, TSN, and RDS.
