FC Barcelona were expected to play a closed-door friendly today against Championship side Preston North End, but the match has now been called off.
According to Mundo Deportivo, today’s friendly was called off due to Preston not having enough first-team players. The English side offered to play with their U21 squad, but Flick and his coaching staff wanted to face challenging opposition and therefore cancelled the match. To conclude their time in England, Barcelona played an intra-squad practice match featuring a combination of first-team and academy players.
With the change in plans, Barca will now return to their home base on Monday night as they prepare for their next preseason matchup against Udinese and Nottingham Forest in Italy this weekend.
