The young Peruvian became an internet sensation after commentating on the 2025 Copa Libertadores Final from San Cristóbal Hill in Lima. Without press credentials and not representing any media outlet, he found a way to watch the match and share it with his followers on TikTok.
With the help of a cell phone and a tripod, he streamed the match, in which Flamengo defeated Palmeiras 1-0. That impromptu coverage ended up changing his life.
Cliver’s story quickly went viral and caught the attention of various media outlets and sports programs, which decided to support his dream of becoming a professional sports commentator. Since then, he has gained experiences that once seemed out of reach.
Among them are his debut as a commentator on Peruvian television, his trip to Spain to call a Champions League match between Real Madrid and Manchester City, support for studying journalism in Madrid, and the opportunity to meet Lionel Messi during a friendly against Alianza Lima.
Now, the next chapter of that story is being written in Mexico. Through his social media, “Pol Deportes” shared his journey to the World Cup host country and later posted images from Mexico City Stadium during the tournament’s opening ceremony.
