Kylian Mbappe was the hat-trick hero for Real Madrid as they continued their perfect La Liga season under Jose Mourinho.
An even first half
In a first half dominated by Madrid, it took until the 40th minute for Los Blancos to get on the scoresheet. Mbappe made the breakthrough, but the credit goes to Federico Valverde. The Uruguayan midfielder drove forward, and his superb ball was met with a great first touch from Mbappe. The Madrid number 10 fired the ball to the top left corner, scoring his first of the season.
Right when it seemed that Madrid would be heading into the half-time break with the lead, Real Sociedad responded. It was truly out of nowhere, with Job Ocheing’s initial shot blocked by Ibrahima Konate before falling straight into the path of Luka Sucic. The Croatian midfielder drilled the shot into the bottom right corner to bring La Real back into the game.
Mbappe’s 2nd half takeover
In the 60th minute, Mbappe was once again the star of the show as he restored Madrid’s lead after finishing off a wonderful team goal. Valverde passed the ball forward to Mbappe, who played a quick one-two with Bellingham before finding himself one-on-one with Alex Remiro and skillfully curving his shot past the Sociedad goalkeeper.
Vinicius Jr joined the action just eight minutes later due to some fantastic work from Bellingham. The English midfielder simply would not quit on the ball, outmuscling Beitia and playing a great ball across the net to Vini.
Mbappe completed his hat-trick in the 80th minute, with Vini Jr. once again in the heart of the action. Madrid quickly recycled the ball from a cleared corner, and Vinicius slid a perfect pass into the path of Mbappe, who beautifully chipped the ball over Remiro for his 3rd of the night.
What’s next for Madrid?
Real Madrid’s next match is against Malaga on Sunday, August 30 at the Bernabeu. Los Blancos started last season’s league campaign with six straight wins.
